Muskoka
is located only 90 minutes from Toronto and is close enough
to be accessible, but far enough away to be a magical place
where the worries drift away. Muskoka is not only for the
visitors and seasonal residents, it's a viable community to
live and work in as well. Muskoka Lakes is a thriving township that
is constantly seeking out new initiatives and preserving lost
areas.
The Township of Muskoka Lakes has the
largest land area of the six municipalities in the District
of Muskoka. It's amazing to realize that the permanent population
of 6,500 increases to 37,000 in the summer. As more and more
people seek to visit or move to Muskoka, the area's planners
and the planning committee of the TMLRA are constantly seeking
a balance between development and preservation.
Muskoka has always enticed people to
come and make their home here; but in doing so we must also
remember to preserve the beauty the area has to offer. Muskoka
is home to over 1,600 lakes, the world famous Algonquin Park,
stunningly beautiful Georgian Bay National Park, countless
species of animals and the most spectacular scenery you could
wish for. All year long there are great attractions, activities,
events and areas you can be involved in.
